Veteran Bollywood actor Prem Chopra (92), who was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on November 8 due to chest congestion, has been discharged. The news of his discharge was confirmed by his family members on Saturday. Earlier, Dr Jalil Parkar had said that the actor was under the care of his family cardiologist, Dr Nitin Gokhale.

Dr Parkar earlier told IANS, "He is a known case of cardiac ailment, and he also had a viral infection, and that's why I'm treating him for the lungs." "He is not in the ICU; he is in the ward." "He is 92 years old, and he has age-related issues because of which his recovery takes a little time."

Early life

Chopra's journey from journalism to Bollywood

Born in Lahore, Punjab Province (now in Pakistan), and raised in Shimla after the Partition of India, Chopra began his career as a journalist and appeared in Punjabi films before entering Bollywood. Chopra's breakthrough came with Shaheed (1965), followed by Upkar (1967), Bobby (1973), Do Anjaane (1976), and Kranti (1981). His dialogue, "Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra" from Bobby, became one of the most memorable lines in Indian cinema. His recent projects include Animal (2023) and Showtime (2024).
