Qatar just opened a museum for M.F. Husain—and it's the 1st ever
Qatar Foundation has launched the world's first museum dedicated to legendary Indian artist M.F. Husain at Education City in Doha.
Inspired by a 2008 sketch from Husain himself, the building stands out with its bold blue walls, Arabic calligraphy, and a striking white minaret-like column.
Why does this matter?
Husain wasn't just a painter—he was a creative force who explored film, photography, poetry, and more over six decades.
After controversy pushed him out of India, Qatar became his new home and even gave him citizenship in 2010.
What's inside?
Spread across 3,000 square meters, the museum showcases over 150 pieces from across Husain's career—including his final multimedia installation "Seeroo fi al ardh," which dives into humanity's journey through technology and culture.
There are also early works and personal archives that give you a glimpse into his life beyond the canvas.
