Riwk Jaiswal's debut film poster revealed at Cannes
Kolkata's own Riwk Jaiswal just made his big debut at the Cannes Film Festival with "Bridge to Eutopia." The film follows a madwoman's unexpected pregnancy and her tough journey through survival. The poster was revealed by veteran actor Anupam Kher, filmmaker Sudipto Sen, and producer and Film Federation of India president Ravi Kottakara.
Jaiswal calls the film 'the voice from the unheard of society'
Set in Kolkata's slums, the movie features local kids as actors—Jaiswal actually ran acting workshops to help them shine on screen. Coming from a theater background himself, he calls the film "the voice from the unheard of society," and says his path has been "long, driven by sheer hard work and the blessings of the universe." The film is already getting attention for its deeper social themes and fresh perspective in Indian cinema.
