Film synopsis
Film inspired by Galwan Valley clash
The film, originally titled Battle of Galwan, is inspired by the military standoff in eastern Ladakh in May 2020.
The Galwan Valley clashes in June that year severely strained India-China ties.
In Maatrubhumi, Khan plays Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who was martyred along with 19 other soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment during this clash.
Meanwhile, Jio Studios will distribute Maatrubhumi across India.
