What's the story

Television actor Sanchita Ugale's (22) untimely demise has sparked a massive debate on mental health. The actor reportedly died by suicide at her Nalasopara residence on June 14. In light of this tragic incident, her close friend, Geetanjali, has opened up about Ugale's mental health struggles. Speaking to Telly Talk India, she revealed that the young actor had been battling depression since January and had difficulty sleeping.

Support efforts

Production house tried to help her

Geetanjali also revealed that the production house Ugale worked with had taken her to several doctors. "Production wale khud usko doctors ke paas le jaate the...They were trying to figure out ki kyon nahi so paa rahi hai," she said. Despite these efforts, Ugale continued to struggle with sleep and expressed a desire not to live. "Wo 6 mahine se ye baat kar rahi hai ki main marna chahti hoon, mujhe nahi jeena."

Emotional turmoil

Ugale felt emotionally drained after shoots

Geetanjali also shared that Ugale had told her about feeling emotionally drained after returning from a shoot in Gujarat. "Usne bola ki mera mann nahi lag raha hai," she recalled. When Geetanjali tried to encourage her by reminding her that she was leading a major show from producer Gul Khan's production house, Ugale allegedly responded differently than expected. "Usne bola ki mujhe achha nahi lag raha kuch bhi, ye life kaisi si hai aur mujhe bahut torturous lag raha hai."
