'Dug...my own grave': Shefali recalls playing Akshay's mother in 'Waqt'
What's the story
Shefali Shah, who is currently winning hearts with her performance in Delhi Crime Season 3, recently opened up about her early career choices. In the 2005 film Waqt: The Race Against Time, she played Amitabh Bachchan's wife and Akshay Kumar's (58) mother. In a recent interview with Times Now, Shah (52) confessed that taking on this role was a professional setback for her.
Regretful decision
'My husband told me, don't do this'
Shah revealed that her husband, director-producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, had advised against her taking on the role. She recalled, "[My] husband told me, don't do it. Amit ji suggested, 'Why don't you take Shefali for this?' and then he was like, 'I don't think she'll fit it.' One day, I put powder in my hair to say, 'See I can look older and mature.' "[I] dug my own grave."
Career reflection
'I don't have a very long resume, but I...'
When asked about the impact on her career after taking on the role, Shah said, "For the longest time, my career has been more about waiting than actually working." "So every part that came...now that I look back, I don't have a very long resume, but I have a very strong resume. And I'm so proud of being part of all those films."
