Shraddha Kapoor is stepping into the shoes of Vithabai, the iconic tamasha performer from Maharashtra, in a new biopic called Eetha.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film aims to bring Vithabai's inspiring journey and her impact on Indian performing arts to a new generation.
Film's title has regional significance
The film's title, Eetha, comes from the regional pronunciation of 'Vittha' in certain areas, especially remote villages, adding an authentic touch.
Music will be by Ajay-Atul.
Born in 1935 in Pandharpur, Vithabai wowed audiences with her stage presence and won two President's Awards (1957 and 1990).
The movie will shine a light on her legacy as one of tamasha's brightest stars.
