'Sounds of Kumbha' gets Grammy nod for Best Global Music Album

Entertainment

Sounds of Kumbha, a 12-track album inspired by the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, just scored a nomination for Best Global Music Album at the 68th Grammy Awards.
Produced by Delhi-based Siddhant Bhatia and backed by the Uttar Pradesh government, it blends live festival sounds, ancient chants, and modern music to capture the spirit of one of India's biggest gatherings.

A global collab with Indian roots

The album brings together over 50 musicians from India and around the world—including rapper Raja Kumari (who picks up her second nomination here).
Dropped in November 2024, Sounds of Kumbha is competing alongside fellow Indian artists Anoushka Shankar and Shakti.

Why this matters

By mixing temple bells, hymns, and ghat chants with global beats, Sounds of Kumbha celebrates India's musical heritage in a fresh way.
The Grammys reveal who takes home the prize on February 1, 2025—so keep an eye out!
