Sourav Ganguly approves Rajkummar Rao for biopic role

Big news for cricket and movie fans: Sourav Ganguly just confirmed that Rajkummar Rao will play him in a biopic hitting theaters December 2026.
Filming kicks off this January, and Ganguly shared that while pre-production took a while, the shoot itself should wrap up in about three months, with post-production after.

'No plans to enter politics'

Ganguly isn't directing the film but is happy to help shape his story behind the scenes.
He also made it clear he has no plans to enter politics in West Bengal, even with elections coming up.
Post-retirement, he's focused on supporting women's cricket and says he'll keep exploring new roles in the sport—just not coaching for now.
