What's the story

Sriram Raghavan, the acclaimed director behind films like Ikkis, is working on a new thriller for Matchbox Shots, reported Variety. The film will be in line with his 2007 neo-noir heist thriller Johnny Gaddaar, which starred Neil Nitin Mukesh and Dharmendra. "I am personally working on a couple of subjects with them," Raghavan told the outlet.

Film details

'One is a true crime sort of thing which...'

Raghavan told the outlet, "One is a true crime sort of thing which I am sort of adapting in my own way."

"And the other is a fiction; it is a thriller, and I mean next year is 20 years of Johnny Gaddaar, so something I want to do in that zone."

Production house's vision

'The common thread across all those titles...'

Sanjay Routray of Matchbox Shots said the production house's diverse slate is a deliberate choice.

"We want to cater to a diverse audience, both in India and internationally," he said.

"The common thread across all those titles is that each one is an untold or uniquely told story with genuine entertainment value."

"The genre changes, the scale changes, the format changes. The promise to the audience does not."

Director's connection

'Andhadhun' marked the beginning of their journey

Raghavan's association with Matchbox Shots goes back to its inception when it was called Matchbox Pictures.

"Matchbox began, I mean as a company, with Andhadhun," he said.

"So we tasted success very, very early, and I am very happy that now Safed Sagar is like doing sort of similar sort of wave, creating waves in the OTT [streaming] kind of a thing."
