Supreme Court tells comedians: raise funds, make amends

Entertainment

After a YouTube comedy show poked fun at people with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the Supreme Court has ordered comedians Samay Raina, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar to raise funds for disabled persons' treatment.
The court also wants them to feature SMA patients on their platforms to help spread awareness and understanding.

Court pushes for change—and an apology

The judges suggested a new law to stop jokes targeting disabled individuals, similar to protections for SC/ST communities.
In response, the comedians have publicly apologized and promised to raise awareness about the challenges faced by disabled people.
