Did Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman witness Ryan Reynolds-Justin Baldoni's clash?
What's the story
Apparently, singer Taylor Swift and actor Hugh Jackman were present when actor Ryan Reynolds confronted Justin Baldoni over the alleged fat-shaming of his wife Blake Lively. The incident reportedly took place on April 25, 2023, at Reynolds and Lively's New York City penthouse, a recent email from Wayfarer Studios co-founder Jamey Heath's team to Baldoni's publicist has revealed. The email was part of the ongoing legal battle between Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star-director Baldoni.
Confrontation details
Baldoni was 'completely embarrassed and apologized'
The email detailed that Reynolds had "unloaded" on Baldoni about how "horrible" it was for him to ask about a woman's weight. The message claimed that Baldoni "was fat shaming Blake," and he was "completely embarrassed and apologized and even shared some tears." Swift, 35, and Jackman, 57, were also present at the apartment during the meeting.
Legal proceedings
Lively's lawsuit against Baldoni and others
Lively, 38, filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, 41, and others in December 2024. The suit alleged sexual harassment and retaliation, which Baldoni has denied. The trial is scheduled for March 2026. Swift and Jackman were among the potential witnesses named by Lively's legal team earlier on. Jackman supported Lively by attending the premiere of It Ends With Us in New York City on August 9, 2024.
Singer's involvement
Swift's involvement in the ongoing legal battle
Swift's name has been mentioned elsewhere in the ongoing legal battle, too. Baldoni's lawyers attempted to subpoena her in May, but her representative distanced her from the film at that time. The rep stated: "Taylor Swift...was not involved in any casting or creative decisions...did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release." Her name was being used "to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case."
Trainer contact
More about the weight issue
In her complaint, Lively noted that Baldoni "secretly called her fitness trainer...and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks." She "was humiliated." In his $400 million countersuit, which has since been dismissed by the judge, Baldoni's lawyers explained that he contacted Lively's trainer to ask what Lively weighed so that he could train his back muscles in preparation for a lift scene. He wanted to "avoid injury" since he "suffered from lifelong back injuries."
