Telugu actor Divyabharathi calls out director for on-set disrespect
Divyabharathi has accused director Naresh Kuppili of calling her "chilaka"—a derogatory term—while filming, and says he repeatedly disrespected women on set.
After Kuppili tweeted she was only fit for supporting roles, Divyabharathi responded, "Calling women 'Chilaka' or any other term isn't a harmless joke, it's a reflection of deep-rooted misogyny."
She also pointed out that co-star Sudigali Sudheer witnessed the incident but stayed silent.
Who is Divyabharathi?
Divyabharathi is a Telugu actor who has recently spoken up about workplace discrimination.

Industry response: AICWA steps in

They've also called on authorities to ensure real protections for women working in film.
