'The Chosen' star visits Vatican
The main actors from The Chosen, including Jonathan Roumie (who plays Jesus), recently visited the Vatican and got to meet Leo, the first US pontiff, during a general audience in St. Peter's Square.
Their trip was timed with a special screening of an upcoming episode from season five, which drops internationally this July.
The cast shared how honored they felt about the experience.
Season 5 focuses on Jesus's post-resurrection life
The Chosen keeps exploring big moments from Jesus's life, like gathering his disciples and facing Roman persecution.
Season five will feature events like the Last Supper, while filming for season six just wrapped up in Matera, Italy—a city famous for its ancient stone houses that doubled as Jerusalem for the show's crucifixion scenes.
Matera's unique look has also made it a go-to spot for other major films about biblical times.
