'Very reluctant': Gwyneth Paltrow on exposing Harvey Weinstein
Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared how tough it was to speak out about Harvey Weinstein's abuse, saying she was "very reluctant" to speak to a journalist and go on the record but felt she had no choice.
"And I am so glad I did, and I'm so glad there's now things like an intimacy coordinator. But it was really scary," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
How Paltrow helped bring Weinstein down
Paltrow played a key part in the 2017 New York Times story that exposed Weinstein's sexual misconduct. She described an incident where he put his hands on her at a hotel and asked for massages, which she refused.
Her then-boyfriend Brad Pitt confronted Weinstein afterward.
While Weinstein admitted to this one incident, he described it as a one-time, almost harmless gesture.
A complicated work history
Paltrow worked with Weinstein on 11 films, including Shakespeare in Love, and called their relationship "very complicated."
She recognized his eye for talent but also spoke honestly about the difficult personal side of working with him.
Where things stand now
Weinstein was convicted of rape in California (2022) and sexual assault in New York in June.
He's currently serving a 16-year prison sentence.
