Vijay's party sends ₹20L to Karur stampede victim families

Entertainment

Tamil actor and politician Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has sent ₹20 lakh directly to the bank accounts of 39 families who lost loved ones in the Karur stampede. The total relief so far is an impressive ₹7.8 crore.
"The TVK members had obtained my bank account details for crediting ₹20 lakh. Accordingly, the amount was transferred to my account today," shared Selvarani, a victim's mother.

SC orders CBI probe into stampede

The tragic stampede happened at a TVK rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, where about 30,000 people packed into a space meant for just 10,000.
Poor crowd management led to chaos that claimed 41 lives and left over 60 injured.
Afterward, the Supreme Court called for a CBI investigation and set up a special committee headed by retired judge Ajay Rastogi.

Long-term support for families

TVK isn't stopping at cash relief—they've also promised to support these families long-term with help for education and jobs.
More families are expected to get aid soon as part of this ongoing effort.
