Vikram Bhatt, wife land in jail over ₹30 crore fraud case

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari are in judicial custody after their interim bail plea was rejected.
They were arrested in Mumbai earlier this month and brought to Udaipur, where they're now in Central Jail.
The couple had already spent a week in police custody before this.

What's the case about?

The Bhatts are accused of cheating Udaipur doctor Ajay Murdia out of ₹30 crore.
Murdia wanted to make a biopic about his late wife and signed a ₹47 crore deal with Bhatt for four films—but only two got made.
Investigators say forged documents, fake bills, and inflated salaries were used to siphon off money.
