What's the story

Actor Vivek Oberoi recently opened up about a terrifying incident from the early days of his career. The actor was shooting for his 2002 film Road in Rajasthan when a camel cart carrying metal rods crashed into their vehicle, smashing through the windshield. "I couldn't get out of the car because the rods were above me. But I was unscathed. Almost died. After that, I decided not to travel at night," he told Mashable India.

Details

'Those rods would have gone into my body'

Oberoi was traveling from Bikaner to Jaisalmer late at night when the accident happened. Despite his repeated warnings to the driver to slow down due to low visibility, disaster struck. "I reclined my seat and suddenly there was a huge crash, a massive sound... The rods had smashed the windshield, and if my seat had been straight, those rods would have gone into my body," he recounted.

Another incident

Oberoi's 2nd brush with reckless driving

Oberoi also shared another encounter with reckless driving years later. He had hired a driver who started speeding despite his warnings. "I told him to stop the car and use the washroom... I came on his side, took the key, and drove off without him," he said.

Upcoming project

Oberoi's upcoming film 'Mastiii 4' to release on November 21

Oberoi will next be seen in Mastiii 4, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. The film is directed by Milap Zaveri and will hit theaters on November 21, 2025. The Masti franchise started in 2004 with the first film becoming a box office success. Its sequels, Grand Masti (2013) and Great Grand Masti (2016), followed suit, though the latter underperformed due to an online leak before its release.
