What's the story

The first glimpse of Ramayana was unveiled on Thursday, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti. In the teaser, Ranbir Kapoor is introduced as Lord Rama, a pivotal character in the mythological drama. We also get glimpses of Sita, Lakshman, and Ravan. However, one key character, Hanuman, played by Sunny Deol, is conspicuously absent from the video. Here's why.

Production schedule

Deol only has a cameo role in Part 1: Reports

Deol, who has been busy with multiple film shoots, is yet to complete his portions for the rest of Ramayana. According to reports, the actor-politician will have a larger role in the second part of the franchise than in the first. The first part primarily focuses on Lord Rama's early life in Ayodhya and his journey to becoming a great warrior and king. He has already finished shooting for his 15-minute cameo in Part 1.

Character portrayal

About the film and its characters

The official synopsis of the Rama glimpse describes Kapoor's character as someone who "represents the kind of hero the world rarely sees anymore." "A hero who chooses duty over desire. Who walks away from power when it is right to do so. Who does what is necessary, even when it costs him everything." The film is set to release this Diwali globally. Part II will be out on Diwali 2027.
