Zee Entertainment logs 100 million+ viewers at FIFA 2026 opening weekend
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is off to a huge start, with Zee Entertainment pulling in over 100 million viewers across TV, streaming, and social media during opening weekend.
Zee5 alone saw nearly six million tuning in from June 11-14 (not counting the late-night Germany vs Curacao match).
FIFA content tops 360 million social views
Fans really showed up: average watch time hit over three hours per person for live matches and the opening ceremony.
Zee's Unite8 Sports channels reached about 25 million households on TV, while FIFA content racked up more than 360 million views on social media.
Zee also teamed up with public viewing operators in several cities to keep the excitement going.
As one company spokesperson put it, the response to the tournament reflected growing interest in football content in India, and viewership is expected to increase as the tournament progresses.
