Zubeen Garg's wife suspects manager's involvement in singer's death
What's the story
The tragic death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg has left the nation in shock. His wife, Garima Garg, has now spoken to CNN-News18 about her suspicions regarding his manager's involvement in the incident. "Why was he not taken care of when his manager was there? We have lost our cultural icon," she said.
Unplanned outing
Why was he taken for a picnic?
Garg was in Singapore for the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore Diplomatic Relations when he drowned while swimming. His wife expressed confusion over why he was at a picnic and swimming despite being exhausted from previous tours. She revealed that she last spoke to him on September 18, a day before his death, and he didn't mention any plans for a picnic.
Health concerns
Was he given his medicines? Garima raises questions
Garima mentioned that her husband was on medication and suspected he might not have been given his medicines. She revealed that upon asking his manager Siddharth Sharma about the incident, she was told Zubeen experienced his first seizure in the water. "He never had a heart problem...when he had the seizure, he was back in a minute. I was really shocked," she said.
Ongoing probe
I trust the legal system: Garima
Garima expressed hope that her husband will get justice. "I trust the legal system. Assam CM is taking it seriously. I am sure we will get justice very soon," she said. Meanwhile, a special team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) seized several "incriminating" documents and items from the festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta's home during a raid, as per PTI. Both Mahanta and Sharma have been sent to police custody.
