7 dead, over a dozen injured in UP road accidents

India

On Friday night and Saturday, October 17-18, 2025, Uttar Pradesh saw a string of serious road accidents involving motorcycles, trucks, vans, and busses.
Seven people lost their lives and more than a dozen were injured across Bareilly, Amethi, and Etah—putting the spotlight back on the state's ongoing road safety issues.

Accidents in Bareilly, Amethi, and Etah

In Bareilly, a van trying to overtake crashed head-on with a bus around 1:30am killing three men and injuring 10 others—four of them critically.
In Amethi, two young men died after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle; the truck has been seized.
Etah district saw two separate motorcycle accidents, leaving a 70-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy dead, with four others hurt.

Road safety still a big concern in UP

These accidents are a grim reminder that road safety is still a big concern in UP.
With reckless driving and weak enforcement, anyone on the road—no matter how careful—can be at risk.
It's a call for better awareness, stricter rules, and safer roads for everyone.
