Air Force's Jaguar aircraft crashes in Gujarat, officer killed

What's the story

A commanding officer (CO) of the Indian Air Force was killed when the fighter plane he was in crashed in Kutch district of Gujarat this morning. Air Commodore Sanjay Chauhan was the CO of the Air Force base in Jamnagar. The cause of the Jaguar aircraft's crash isn't yet known. The incident will be probed by a court of inquiry.

At least 4 military aircraft crashes reported in 2018

At least three military crashes have been reported this year. In February, two pilots were killed when their microlight aircraft crashed in Majuli district of Assam. The next month, a Hawk jet crashed in Odisha's Mayurbhanj, but fortunately, the trainee pilot managed to eject himself on time. In April, six people on board were injured when a Mi-17 chopper crashed in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand.
