A Mumbai-based Air India pilot was found dead in a luxury hotel room in Vasant Kunj, South Delhi. The incident took place on Friday, a day before he was scheduled to fly, Hindustan Times reported. The pilot had checked into the hotel on Thursday during his layover. His brother alerted the hotel staff after failing to reach him on Friday evening.
Discovery
Hotel manager opened the room with master key
The hotel manager used a master key to open the room, which was locked from inside. He found the pilot lying unconscious and unresponsive.
The police were informed, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
An autopsy was conducted at Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday to determine the cause of death.
Training details
No foul play suspected
The pilot was undergoing conversion training for the Boeing 787 aircraft operations, airline officials were quoted as saying. He had previously worked with Air India Express before joining Air India a couple of months ago.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel confirmed that no foul play is suspected in this case and inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita are underway.

Air India expresses sorrow over incident
Air India expressed its deep sorrow over the incident and said it is in close touch with the pilot's family.
An airline spokesperson said, "Air India is in close touch with his family and is extending all support at this time of grief."
Further inquiries are ongoing as police await the final medical opinion to determine the cause of death.
