
Centre releases ₹1,950cr advance to Karnataka, Maharashtra for flood relief

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the release of ₹1,950.80 crore as an advance to Karnataka and Maharashtra. The amount is the second installment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for 2025-26. Of this, ₹384.40 crore has been allocated for Karnataka and ₹1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra to provide immediate relief assistance to those affected by heavy rainfall and floods during this year's southwest monsoon season.

Commitment to assist states affected by floods
The central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shah, has reiterated its commitment to provide all possible assistance to states affected by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, PTI reported. This year, the Centre has released ₹13,603.20 crore to 27 states under SDRF and ₹2,189.28 crore under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to 15 states.

Further, ₹4,571.30 crore has been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states and ₹372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states. The central government has also provided logistical support by deploying teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, and Air Force to assist in rescue operations across flood-affected regions this monsoon season.
