Amritsar reels after 2 deadly shootings just hours apart

India

Amritsar had a rough Tuesday, with two separate shootings leaving the city shaken.
First, Makhan Singh, an assistant manager at Baba Budha Sahib Bus Service (Kahlon Transport), was shot dead at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Amritsar—police say it's tied to a heated dispute between transport companies and extortion threats worth ₹2 crore.
Not long after, Varinder Singh was killed in Chheharta while heading home from dropping his kids at school; this one seems linked to a family feud.
Police are investigating both cases and have already caught suspects in the second incident.

Political fallout: Leaders call out rising violence

These back-to-back attacks have sparked outrage among political leaders, who are blaming the state government for failing to keep people safe.
Many are pointing to these incidents as proof that law and order is slipping in Punjab and demanding stronger action on public safety.
