Andhra police arrest 50 CPI (Maoist) operatives in major crackdown
In a big move, Andhra Pradesh police arrested 50 members of the banned CPI (Maoist) group across five districts in operations culminating on November 19.
This action came right after a deadly encounter where a top Maoist leader, Madvi Hidma, and five others were killed.
The arrests were part of a well-planned operation targeting Maoists who had slipped into Andhra from Chhattisgarh to regroup and rebuild their network.
Who was caught and what was seized
Among those arrested were senior committee members and party cadres—including nine members of the protection team of Central Committee Secretary Devuji.
Police also seized 39 guns, over 300 rounds of ammo, explosives, and nearly ₹13 lakh in cash.
Most of those caught have been sent to jail for now.
ADGP Intelligence Mahesh Chandra Laddha called it one of the biggest anti-Maoist actions in recent times, saying it's dealt a serious blow to their cross-border operations.
