Army jawan accused of espionage in Amritsar
Punjab Police have arrested an Indian Army soldier, Gurpreet Singh, and his friend Sahil Masih for allegedly spying for Pakistan's ISI.
Singh, who joined the army in 2016 and is currently posted in Jammu, is accused of using his access to collect and share confidential military info through pen drives and disks.
Both were caught after a tip-off about an attempted data transfer.
Payments for leaked info sent through maze of contacts
The operation was reportedly set up by Arjan, a Dubai-based drug dealer who connected Singh with ISI agents about five months ago.
Payments for the leaked info were sent through a maze of friends and overseas contacts to stay under the radar.
Police seized phones with virtual numbers and chats with handlers like Rana Javed.
Both men face charges under India's Official Secrets Act as well as new criminal law sections.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities look into a wider spy network possibly involved in this case.
