Maharashtra districts experience large rainfall deficit
Maharashtra saw more rain than usual this June overall, but over 20 districts—mainly in Marathwada and Vidarbha—got way less than they needed.
Some places, like Washim, missed out on nearly 86% of their normal rain, with Akola and Nagpur not far behind.
TL;DR
Uneven rainfall could affect agriculture in these areas
This uneven rainfall is a big deal for farmers.
While Pune and the west got plenty of rain (Pune actually had double its usual!), large parts of central and eastern Maharashtra are struggling.
The lack of rain could delay crop planting and put extra stress on water resources, especially since the IMD doesn't expect much improvement until July.
If things don't change soon, it could mean tough times ahead for agriculture in these areas.
