Assam Police nabs key suspect in 'Operation Ghost SIM'
Assam Police just scored a big win against cybercrime by arresting Md Rupchand Ali in Dhubri.
He's believed to be a major player in a network that supplies fake SIM cards—essentially, phone numbers bought with fake IDs—to help cybercriminals stay hidden.
The arrest happened during "Operation Ghost SIM," a joint effort by the Special Task Force and local police.
TL;DR
Operation Ghost SIM has arrested 12 people so far
Launched in May, this operation goes after groups running fake SIM rackets across Assam, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
So far, 12 people have been arrested.
When police picked up Ali, they found two SIM cards, 15 voter IDs, an Aadhaar card, and more—showing just how deep the forgery runs.
His arrest is expected to help police track down even more people involved.
