Assam woman falls ill after reserved train coach overcrowded

India

Dimpi Sarma from Assam became seriously unwell when her reserved coach on the Tripura Sundari Express was packed with unreserved passengers.
She was returning from a camp in Delhi, and videos shared by Anaya Sah, who accompanied her, showed her struggling to breathe and asking for help.

Overcrowding blocked entry, led to health scare

Sarma and her 17-member team couldn't enter their own coach because both doors were blocked by people without reservations.
They squeezed in through another compartment, only to find their seats surrounded by crowds sitting, standing, even lying down.
With barely any air inside, Sarma started coughing badly and had chest pain for almost an hour.

No real help despite emergency calls—Sparks outrage

Even after pulling the emergency chain and calling railway helplines, no one came to help.
The train driver just checked from afar and said it wasn't his job.
Now, there's a wave of anger online about how railway authorities handle passenger safety—or don't—especially when rules are ignored like this.
