Bengaluru surgeon kills wife, messages to lover reveal murder

India

Dr. Mahendra Reddy, a general surgeon at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Dr. Kruthika Reddy, using an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.
The couple, married just last year and both working at the same hospital, were at a time when Kruthika was staying at her father's house, and Mahendra visited her there when she suddenly fell ill and died after Mahendra gave her intravenous injections over two days.

Mahendra in judicial custody

Kruthika's death was first thought to be natural until her sister pushed for a deeper investigation.
Forensic tests revealed that she died from a propofol overdose, leading police to treat it as homicide.
Things got even more serious when investigators found messages on Mahendra's phone confessing to the crime—he wrote "I killed my wife for you" to a woman via a payment app after being blocked elsewhere.
He also contacted several other women after the murder.
Police say he used his medical skills and access to controlled drugs to carry out and hide the murder.
He's now in judicial custody while police continue digging through digital evidence and witness statements.
