Bengaluru: Woman harassed in street; dermatologist accused of molesting patient
Bengaluru saw two separate incidents of sexual harassment recently—a woman was harassed while walking her dog in Indiranagar, and a dermatologist was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a young patient at his Ashok Nagar clinic.
Both cases have led to police action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), India's new criminal code.
Details of the 2 cases
In Indiranagar, a 33-year-old woman reported that an unknown man exposed himself and behaved indecently while she was out with her dog.
In the second case, Dr. Praveen, 56, allegedly forced a 21-year-old patient to undress at his clinic, touched her inappropriately, hugged and kissed her without consent, and made suggestive comments about meeting at a hotel. He was arrested.
Both cases are being handled under strict sections of the BNS focused on protecting women's safety.
