Bihar ASI suspended for alleged sexual assault
In Jehanabad, Bihar, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was suspended after a woman sub-inspector from a Scheduled Caste accused him of sexually assaulting her on April 7.
She said he molested her, threatened to kill her if she spoke up, and used casteist slurs.
The police registered an FIR under laws covering sexual harassment and caste-based abuse.
Three separate investigations underway
Initially scared to report the incident, the woman eventually filed a complaint.
Police Superintendent Vineet Kumar confirmed the ASI has been suspended and shifted out of his post.
There are now three separate investigations: a criminal probe based on her FIR, an internal inquiry under workplace harassment laws (POSH Act), and departmental action—all focusing on the alleged assault, threats, and abuse.
