Bihar: Men accidentally get ₹10K each from women's job scheme

India

Some men in Bihar's Ahiyari village woke up to an unexpected ₹10,000 credited to their accounts—money meant for women entrepreneurs under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.
The agency running the scheme, Jeevika, attributed it to technical glitches, but now there's confusion and frustration all around.

Why does it matter?

At least three of the men who got the money are disabled and struggling financially.
They say they never applied for this cash, but after using it for festivals and daily needs, they've been asked to pay it back.
The mix-up has sparked local confusion and political criticism about how well these big government schemes are managed—especially since this one was supposed to help 1.4 crore women start businesses.
