BJP questions why minister's grandson rode with CM in jeep
During this year's Mysuru Dasara festival, Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa's grandson was spotted riding in an open jeep alongside Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other VIPs.
The moment, captured before the big Vijayadashami procession at Mysuru Palace, led to questions—mainly from the BJP—about whether official protocols were bent for a family member.
No formal salutes or strict rules: Mahadevappa
Responding to the buzz, Mahadevappa explained that no formal salutes or strict rules applied to this part of the event, so there was room for flexibility.
He shared that "Dasara is a people's Dasara," making it clear he sees the festival as inclusive.
The minister also gave a shoutout to pourakarmikas (sanitation workers) for handling massive festival waste and thanked CM Siddaramaiah for funding and supporting this year's celebrations.
