Chennai airport drug bust: NCB seizes ₹10cr cannabis, arrests 2 women

India

NCB officers caught two women at Chennai International Airport with 28kg of high-grade cannabis (hydroponic ganja) worth about ₹10 crore, stashed in their checked bags.
The drugs reportedly came from Phuket, Thailand and were meant for distribution in Chennai.
One woman works in real estate and the other is a former Dubai housemaid; the former Dubai housemaid occasionally works in minor supporting roles in the film industry.

What's happening now?

The NCB is digging into how the drugs got from Thailand to India and who else might be involved—suppliers, financiers, or buyers.
There are even hints this case could touch parts of Kollywood.
Both women face charges under tough anti-drug laws and are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
If you know anything about this case, NCB is asking people to call their helpline (1933)—they promise your info stays confidential.
