Chopper crash prompts high-level meeting

Early Sunday morning, a helicopter headed from Kedarnath to Guptkashi crashed in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district, claiming all seven lives on board. The accident is suspected to be due to poor visibility and possible technical issues.

TL;DR

Passengers from different states

Among those lost were five adult pilgrims, a two-year-old child, and the pilot, Rajiv. The passengers came from different states—Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Locals found the wreckage deep in a forest; rescue teams are still working through tough terrain.

CM calls for stricter safety checks

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called for stricter helicopter safety checks and better weather monitoring before flights. A new technical committee will look into improving heli safety protocols. With this being the fifth aviation incident in six weeks around Kedarnath, urgent action is on everyone's mind.
