Cyclone Ditwah: Orange alert for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

India

Cyclone Ditwah is moving up the Bay of Bengal, prompting the IMD to issue an orange alert for north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of south Andhra Pradesh.
As of Friday morning, the cyclone was off Sri Lanka's east coast and is expected to reach near Tamil Nadu and Puducherry by early Sunday.

Why does this matter?

Heavy to extremely heavy rain is on the way for districts like Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, and Puducherry on Saturday—then shifting toward Chennai on Sunday.
Winds could hit 35-50km/h with thunderstorms likely through December 1.
Because Cyclone Ditwah is moving slowly, there's a higher risk of flooding, power cuts, travel delays, and general disruption in daily life.
If you're in these areas, keep an eye on updates and stay prepared!
