Dahi-Handi event scare for Eknath Shinde; he joins more celebrations
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a close call on Saturday when the stage collapsed at a crowded Dahi-Handi event in Ghansoli.
Thankfully, he got out safely and no one was hurt.
Safety concerns at other events, too
Even after the scare, Shinde didn't let it stop him—he joined more Janmashtami celebrations across Mumbai and Thane with CM Devendra Fadnavis, cheering on Govindas building human pyramids to break curd pots for Lord Krishna.
The 2025 festivities drew huge crowds and even actor Govinda showed up.
But while Mumbai's Konkan Nagar team made history with a 10-tier pyramid, safety was a big concern: two people lost their lives and over 100 were injured during events around the region.
