Delhi Police busts ₹50 crore 'digital arrest' scam across 7 states
Delhi Police just busted a massive cyber scam where fraudsters pretended to be cops on WhatsApp video calls, threatening people with fake arrests and demanding money for "verification."
The gang operated in seven states and is linked to over 66 complaints, cheating victims out of more than ₹50 crore.
Ten people have been arrested so far.
How the scam worked & what's next
The whole thing unraveled after a victim in Shaheen Bagh lost nearly ₹1 lakh to scammers posing as Karnataka Police.
The group used fake bank accounts, illegal SIM cards, and encrypted chats to cover their tracks.
Cops tracked suspects across places like Delhi, Mumbai airport, and even caught one trying to flee to Dubai.
They've seized phones, cards, a car—and the investigation's still on as police work to freeze accounts and find more victims.
