Delhi's air turns hazardous as thick smog covers the city

Delhi woke up to seriously bad air on Saturday, with pollution levels hitting a dangerous AQI of 419.
Famous spots like India Gate disappeared behind heavy smog, and visibility dropped across the city.
The situation has gotten so bad that authorities are stepping in with urgent measures to try and tackle the spike.

Siri Fort tops pollution charts, stricter rules kick in

Siri Fort recorded an almost off-the-charts AQI of 495, while places like Wazirpur and Bawana weren't far behind.
In response, officials have rolled out Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi-NCR—think stricter controls on activities causing pollution.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is pressing Punjab and Haryana to get serious about stopping stubble burning—a big reason for Delhi's choking air every year.
