Devotees use ambulances as taxis to Kedarnath
A group of devotees heading from Haridwar to Kedarnath tried to skip heavy traffic by riding in ambulances with sirens blaring—basically turning them into fake emergency rides.
Their plan worked for a while, letting them breeze through checkpoints, but police at Sonprayag eventually stopped them.
Both ambulances (one from Rajasthan and one from Haridwar) were seized on the spot and the drivers were fined.
Booking under Motor Vehicles Act
Sonprayag police acted fast, booking the drivers under the Motor Vehicles Act for abusing emergency vehicle privileges.
With safety already a challenge in the busy Kedarnath region, the incident is a reminder that bending rules puts everyone at risk.
Authorities implied that using ambulances as shortcuts isn't just unfair, it's illegal and will have real consequences.
