Why DGCA has deployed an oversight team at IndiGo's HQ
What's the story
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has formed an eight-member oversight team to monitor IndiGo's operations. The move comes after widespread flight disruptions across several airports. The team, which includes senior officials such as deputy and senior flight operations inspectors, will have two members stationed daily at IndiGo's corporate office in Emaar Capital Tower 2, Gurugram.
Operational monitoring
Oversight team's responsibilities and DGCA's directives
The oversight team will monitor key operational parameters such as fleet size, network details, pilot strength, crew utilization, and unplanned leave instances. Two officers will specifically monitor domestic and international flight cancellations, refund processing, on-time performance, the compensation to passengers under Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), and baggage return status. The teams are required to submit daily reports by 6:00pm until operations stabilize.

DGCA appoints committee to investigate breakdown
The DGCA had earlier appointed a four-member committee to investigate the crisis. The panel includes Joint DG Sanjay Brahamane, Deputy Director General Amit Gupta, Senior Flight Operations Inspector Kapil Manglik, and Flight Operations Inspector Lokesh Rampal. They will look into the root cause of the operational breakdown and assess IndiGo's manpower planning and crew rostering systems. The probe also includes compliance with revised Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules.
