DNA test confirms last victim of Ahmedabad plane crash

The last unidentified victim from the Air India crash near Ahmedabad has finally been identified through DNA testing, bringing closure to families after a heartbreaking wait.
The June 12 crash happened just after takeoff, when the aircraft collided with a hostel complex.
Sadly, 260 people lost their lives—241 onboard and 19 on the ground.

Breakdown of victims' nationalities

With this final DNA match, authorities have now identified nearly everyone involved: 200 Indians (181 onboard, 19 on the ground), seven Portuguese nationals, 52 British citizens, and one Canadian.
There was just one survivor—Vishwas Kumar Ramesh from the UK—who made it out with injuries.

Closure for families

Despite tough conditions and multiple nationalities among victims, teams managed to identify all remains in about two weeks—a huge relief for grieving families.
Everyone's remains have now been returned to their loved ones, while three injured survivors are still recovering in hospital.
