DNA testing identifies 31 Air India crash victims

On June 12, 2025, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (Flight AI171) crashed just after taking off from Ahmedabad, on its way to London Gatwick. Out of 242 people on board, only one survived; 241 passengers and crew lost their lives. The crash also claimed the lives of five medical students who were nearby.

Because of severe damage, DNA testing is being used to identify victims—so far, 31 have been named and some families have received their loved ones' remains. Air India and the government are working to support affected families during this incredibly tough time.
