Encounter underway in J&K's Shopian; 3 terrorists killed
What's the story
A gunfight is reportedly underway between security forces and four terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian area.
India today reported that at least three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists have been killed in the Zinpather Keller area, while one terrorist, a local, Shahid, has been identified.
According to local reports, the clash began in the neighboring Kulgam region before the terrorists proceeded on to Shopian.
Talks
India, Pakistan agreed to refrain from any aggressive action
The development comes after India and Pakistan on Monday night agreed to refrain from any aggressive action or gunfire following their first hotline conversation since the recent ceasefire understanding.
Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed, India's Eastern Command said.
Agreement
Drones seen over Indian city skies
The two had also agreed that they would consider immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas.
Shortly after the agreement, drones were reportedly sighted late Monday over Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur in Punjab, in Unchi Bassi, between Mukerian and Dasuya in Hoshiarpur district, on the Jammu national highway.
However, the Indian Army said that there was nothing to worry about.
Posters
Reward for info on terrorists
Following the drone sightings, posters also appeared in various parts of the Shopian district announcing a ₹20 lakh reward for anyone who provides information about those involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
J&K police have also released photos of three Pahalgam terror attack suspects.
Authorities have assured that the informant's identity will be kept confidential.
