Ex-TTD chief YV Subba Reddy says he's not part of temple ghee scam

India

YV Subba Reddy, who once led the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), is in the spotlight over a huge ghee adulteration scandal.
After being grilled for eight hours by investigators, he firmly denied any involvement and even volunteered for lie detector tests to clear his name.
He stated that the report on fake ghee was never placed before him as chairman.

What else is going on?

The SIT suspects Reddy didn't act when fake ghee was found during the period 2019-24 and calls his role "suspicious."
Meanwhile, his former aide is accused of taking ₹50 lakh in bribes to help supply tainted ghee.
The scam itself is massive—over 60 lakh kg of adulterated ghee worth ₹240 crore made its way into temple kitchens, even after tests confirmed it was fake.
The investigation is still unfolding as officials dig deeper into what went wrong.
