Gujarat government announces 8-day Diwali break for employees

Big news for anyone working in Gujarat's government: you're getting a full eight days off for Diwali this year, from October 19 to 26, 2025.
The state wants everyone to have more time with family during the festival, so they've made even two regular workdays into special holidays.

Government offices will be open on these Saturdays

This break covers Diwali (October 20), New Year (October 22), and Bhai Bij (October 23), plus the weekend.
To balance things out, government offices will stay open on the second Saturdays of November 8 and December 13—so those days won't be off as usual.
The move is a big shift for Gujarat, showing more support for cultural celebrations and giving thousands of employees a little more breathing room with loved ones.
