Gujarat polling officer dies on duty, sparking concerns over workload

Rameshbhai Parmar, a Booth Level Officer and school principal in Gujarat, died of a heart attack while working on electoral roll updates.
His family says the "unbearable" workload and long travel took a toll on him.
Sadly, at least five other BLOs in West Bengal, Kerala, and Rajasthan have died this month, allegedly due to suicide or heart attack.

Long commutes and lack of official response

Parmar was riding over 94km daily for his duties—his family shared he came home exhausted and even skipped dinner the night before he passed away.
Despite these tragedies, local officials haven't commented yet, raising questions about how election work is managed for those on the ground.
